Want to get involved?
As a Mentor: You will have the opportunity to help inspire middle school, high school, college, medical students and even residents and junior faculty members to pursue their dream careers in medicine. Our program is based on the "vertical peer mentoring" model, which means that anyone, at any level, can help provide guidance to those who are on a similar path. We believe everyone has a unique voice and valuable experiences that might help someone else achieve their goals. Our program will help facilitate ongoing discussions between mentors and mentees in order to help maintain the connections that naturally form. Mentors are free to volunteer as much time as they can, with our full understanding that each of us has a busy schedule on our hands. We do NOT expect every mentor to participate at every session. We only hope to expand our network so we can call on each other's expertise whenever they are available in order to help as many people as possible. We sincerely appreciate everyone who believes in our mission and wants to make the future a more diverse and equitable place to learn, train, and grow.
As a Mentee: You will have opportunities for one-on-one and group discussions with distinguished medical and scientific professionals and trainees from Weill Cornell Medicine and other neighboring NYC institutions. You will be expected to bring your questions, ideas, and enthusiasm to each session. We only ask that you please be mindful of being on time and courteous to your mentors and fellow mentees during our sessions. Mentees can include anyone at any level of training, from middle school students to junior faculty. Our goal is to connect as many mentees to mentors as possible in order to grow a new and more representative generation of doctors, scientists, and professionals.
